If you asked me I would have a hard time picking something other than this. I know it will plummet in price quicker than the stork market crash of 1929 but it is the most wonderful car. A V12 pillarless coupe with an interior more luxurious than most million dollar apartments in NYC. The want is strong with this one.

What are we saying for “best”? Passenger comfort? Speed? Reliability? Fun behind the wheel?

Hellcat

Constant first choice for me throughout the years of what I would buy if I won the Lotto.

A car that cost $25,000, gets 30mpg and hits 60mph in 5.5 seconds that also has rear leg room like an E-class and is RWD with a manual.
So none of them.

True hardtops are magnificent. That said I’m going for a cammed out V8 powered Bauer Catfish that revs to 8K.

$1,000 Miata and $249k in upgrades.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:22 |

Didn’t your mother ever teach you? THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS MIATA
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:22 |
|
You forgot that it has to have 500 hp and be a crossover.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:23 |

I was thinking of this but I just wish it was a speedster.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:23 |

$1000 Miata and $249k in a fully equipped garage around it. FIFY.

I’d take a Porsche Panamera Turbo S.

Maybe a $200k garage and $49k in upgrades.

Round 2: Singer 911
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:24 |
|
Ew. No. Crossovers are for people who don’t realize you don’t need an ugly lump of metal to hauls a couple of kids and their shit. Also 500hp seems unusable. How about 300hp?
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:24 |
|
No, 500. As we all know, 300 isn’t enough anymore. 500 might not be either.

I was gonna say Accord V6. Only thing missing is the RWD part.

911 GTS 4 then, for me, at least (if I had money). Manual, all-wheel drive, fast, can theoretically sit four people. Makes the most sense.

A BMW 320i with no options comes closest.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:38 |

![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:38 |

If we’re going to call a Singer 911 a retromod than you are really pushing the boundaries of that label. It’s closer to new than it is retromod.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:39 |

It’s only a matter of time until i get addicted to youtube comments. At that point, nothing under 1500 will be enough because there’s a turbo’d Gallardo that puts out that much and why should anything put out less? Because Random Internet Kid sees it, he knows he can handle it.

![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:41 |

I know a lot of the car is all but it is all modified to fit in a classic Porsche. So it is hard for me to call it new. But I'm just one guys opinion

I did not but now I will!
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:43 |

![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:45 |

If your gonna spend 200+k on one single car I can’t think of a better car to buy than the S600 Maybach.
Is it expensive for a car? you bet.
Is it expensive for what it is and what it competes against? It’s a fucking bargain!
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:45 |
|
If I ever drive one maybe I will change my mind
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:46 |

I feel the same way with the S65 Coupe. It blows the Wraith out of the water
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:50 |
|
It (very) comfortably seats 4.
Goes like a bat out of hell both in straight line acceleration and even around a track.
Lots of cargo room thanks to the rear hatch.
AWD + Snow Tires = I own the roads when it snows.
I actually like the way it looks.
That V8 sounds angry as hell.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:52 |
|
Not really - cost, speed and legroom are still issues. I’ve priced out a 320i and new I’m looking at $40k the way I want it. There’s one at a local Carmax for $31k that’s perfect except the autobox.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:54 |
|
I know it's the whole package but it needs a redesign. Call me shallow. It I can't get over the looks
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:56 |
|
For me, it would be an Escalade ESV Platinum. It’s got style, power, an amazing interior, can tow stuff, and seat 7. Plus it maxes out at $100k so I can use the other $150k to buy a killer boat and a camper, which the Escalade can tow!
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:56 |
|
Obviously
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:57 |
|
Oh, I definitely can’t wait for the refresh where they said they’d be improving the looks. But if I had 250 grand burning a hole in my pocket and wanted a new car, the Panamera would pretty much be IT.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 14:59 |
|
I think the best scenario would be to find one that’s been sitting on a lot for a while and try to nab a deal at the end of the month.
Obligatory “Just chip it for more POWAHH yo!” as well.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 15:02 |

Yes it is
![]() 06/02/2015 at 15:20 |

In an all-around performance perspective (straight line acceleration, cornering, braking) I’d say the Cayman GT4. I’ll take mine in Sapphire Blue please.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 16:00 |

Not necessarily this exact special edition but point is made. It’s technically a truck, basically does EVERYTHING.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 16:13 |

I know a lot of people don’t like large SUV’s here but I adore them and this Esclade is a great example of why. A great luxury automobile and I think they are future classics

As with much of life, Math reveals the appropriate answers: $250K car < (5 x $50K) < (10 x $25k) < (25 x $10k)
Answer: 250 $1,000 craigslist specials.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 16:15 |

I think I would buy that over a 911 RS
![]() 06/02/2015 at 16:15 |

I always think the GMC looks 10x better than the comparable Silverado
![]() 06/02/2015 at 16:16 |
|
I said best NEW but I like your thinking
![]() 06/02/2015 at 16:21 |
|
Usually it is. Depends on the generation though.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 16:50 |
|
This generation the GMC looks better but last gen the Silverado looked much better:
And the generation before that, the Sierra looked better:
![]() 06/02/2015 at 16:54 |
|
I would to. It may not be as fast but I think it would feel much more special. It’s very well known that the Cayman is a better sports car
![]() 06/02/2015 at 17:12 |
|
We have differing opinions. All three gens I prefer the GMC.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 17:14 |
|
And you're not like every other guy that bought a 911. You put some thoughts behind the purchase
![]() 06/02/2015 at 17:49 |
|
The crazy acceleration of the 911 RS is awesome but I really have nowhere to put all that power to use except for taking it to the strip. I’d much rather have a car that is a little slower but most likely a lot more fun in the twisties out in the country backroads.
It’s the same thing with the Hellcat twins. I’d be just as happy with the 392.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 17:54 |

I agree with your choice, this one is mine.
![]() 06/02/2015 at 18:01 |

But it isn't new therefore disqualified
![]() 06/02/2015 at 18:05 |

Oh, I wasn’t suggesting it, I’m just giddy with excitement about it. Also, this is the best car under $250,000
